The Worldview Thread
Colossians 2 (KJV) Romans 12 (KJV) Acts 17 (KJV)

The worldview thread at Calloway Park is not a separate ethics class. It is a question embedded in every subject: what does this knowledge assume, who does it serve, and what does it cost those outside its beneficiary circle? The history class that asks whose history is being told. The economics class that asks who bears the cost of this arrangement. The science class that asks who funds this research. These questions do not make subjects ideological — they make students critical. The student who has been trained to ask these questions about their own field is the student who will resist the moral compromises their profession will eventually offer them.

Colossians 2 Do not be taken captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy
Romans 12 Renewing of the mind — the capacity to test and approve
Acts 17 The Bereans examined daily — the worldview thread's oldest expression

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

Colossians 2:8 (KJV)

⚡ This Week's Action

Today, take one professional decision you have recently made and ask: what does this assume about what matters and who benefits? Is the assumption right?

Education Has Transmitted Knowledge Without Transmitting the Capacity to Question Its Assumptions

The student who has never been asked to examine the assumptions of their discipline is the professional who will accept those assumptions uncritically and act on them without moral reflection. The worldview crisis is not the presence of secular assumptions in education — it is the invisibility of those assumptions. The MEELS™, the Moral Efficacy and Ethical Leadership Score™ Worldview Coherence metric rises when students can articulate the assumptions they are being trained to hold and ask whether those assumptions serve the right ends.

  • Professionals applying world-class competence to ends they have never examined
  • Graduates whose technical skill is uncoupled from ethical reasoning about its application
  • The institutions that produce the world's most capable people with the least moral formation about how that capacity should be deployed

Romans 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is. The renewing of the mind produces the capacity to test — to examine assumptions, to discern patterns, to ask what is being conformed to and whether it should be.

🌐 World's View

The world treats subject knowledge as neutral — a tool that can be applied to any end equally.

✝️ God's View

God says all knowledge has assumptions, all assumptions have consequences, and the renewed mind is equipped to examine both — which is why the worldview thread belongs in every subject.

Acts 17:11: The Bereans examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Examination — daily, active, applied to what they were being taught. The Berean practice is the worldview thread in its most ancient form.

⚖️
Morality
The student trained to examine the assumptions of their own discipline is the professional who will recognise the moral compromise when their field eventually offers it. Ethical resistance is not a matter of conviction alone — it requires the trained capacity to see what is being assumed
💚
Health
Technical competence uncoupled from ethical reasoning is a burden on the person carrying it. Practitioners equipped to ask who bears the cost of their decisions work with a clear conscience rather than a suppressed one.
💰
Finances
The economics class that asks who bears the cost of this arrangement produces economists who ask it professionally. Communities served by such practitioners are spared the arrangements that are technically sound and quietly extractive.
🌿
Examination
Three questions in every subject: what does this knowledge assume, who does it serve, and what does it cost those outside its beneficiary circle? Not a separate ethics class — a thread running through all of them.” If the template must keep Diet: “Every food system rests on assumptions about who is fed and who bears the cost. The examined mind asks those questions of the table as readily as of the textbook.
🌍
Global Impact
The institutions producing the world’s most capable people currently provide the least moral formation about how that capability is deployed. Reversing that — one worldview thread at a time — changes what the world’s most competent professionals do with their competence
Tap each step to mark complete
Choose one subject or area of expertise you currently hold and identify two assumptions it makes about human nature, value, or purpose
Ask whether those assumptions serve the communities whose lives depend on the decisions made on their basis
Pray Romans 12:2 as a learning prayer: renew my mind so I can test and approve what is true and good
Find one student or young professional and introduce the worldview thread to their field
Identify one professional decision you have made this week and ask what assumptions it made
🙏 Today's Prayer

"Lord, renew my mind so that it can examine the assumptions I am being asked to act on. Let me be a Berean — examining what I receive rather than merely accepting it. In Jesus' name, Amen."

✦ 10. Call to Salvation ✦

You have been examining everything else. The Bereans did the same — they received Paul’s message eagerly and then searched the Scriptures daily to see whether it was true. Christ does not ask for uncritical acceptance. He invites examination, and He withstands it. Come and examine Him today, and find that He is what He claimed to be
