The Douala Cultural Production Hub's founding conviction is this: excellence is a theological statement. The film about a women's cooperative in the Littoral region, made with the same rigour and intentionality as any film that has competed at a major festival, communicates before a single word of content is received that what it is about is worth looking at carefully. Slipshod execution of true content communicates the opposite: that the truth does not merit the full deployment of available craft. Excellence is not perfection. It is the full deployment of what has been given in service of what is true.

This week, identify one thing you create and make it 10% better. Not more of it — better. Let excellence be your theological statement.
The sincere expression of a true message through inadequate craft is not faithfulness — it is poor stewardship of the gift and disservice to the truth. The audience that receives a genuine message through inferior execution has been given reason to doubt that the truth cares about quality. When the Kingdom's cultural output consistently fails to meet the aesthetic standards of the mainstream it is trying to reach, it has communicated something unintended about the Kingdom's priorities.

Exodus 31:3-5: I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills — to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze. The Spirit's gifting for artistic excellence is specific, practical, and Spirit-given. Excellence in craft is not worldly aspiration — it is the Spirit's endowment for Kingdom purpose.
The world equates commercial success with quality — and religious content is expected to accept lower standards in exchange for spiritual sincerity.
God gifts His people with artistic excellence through His Spirit — and the full deployment of that excellence in service of truth is an act of faithfulness, not worldliness.
Psalm 33:3: Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. The Hebrew word for skilfully is yatab — to do well, to do thoroughly. Skillful playing is a worship obligation. Excellence in art is a form of reverence.
