The Inquiry Room at Calloway Park is a space, a time allocation, and a mandate. Every student identifies a real problem in a real institution outside the school and produces a proposal that the institution is invited to review. The NHS collaboration in Year Four produced three proposals reviewed by the trust's patient experience team. One was adopted. The student who produced it is now studying public health — not because of a careers conversation but because she had already done the work and discovered she was good at it and that it mattered. The Inquiry Room produces vocations, not only qualifications.

This week, convert one piece of knowledge you hold into one practical proposal for one real institution. The Inquiry Room begins with you.
The case study, the simulation, the hypothetical scenario — all of these are valuable. None of them has stakes. The student who produces a proposal that might actually be implemented in an institution that actually serves real people is encountering something that no simulation can replicate: the experience of competence with consequence. That experience is what produces vocation.
- Students who are academically capable but vocationally undirected because they have never encountered a real problem with their expertise
- Graduates who are technically trained but have never experienced the difference between knowing something and doing something useful with it
- Institutions that need the insights of young, unconventional minds and have no mechanism for accessing them
Acts 17:21: All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking about and listening to the latest ideas. Paul did not run a seminar. He engaged the real intellectual and cultural problems of a real city. The Inquiry Room is Athenian engagement, not Athenian discussion.
The world confines students to educational institutions and measures their progress against internal standards.
God designed human beings to develop their capacities through real engagement with real problems in the real world — and education that confines them to simulation is depriving them of the formation that only reality can provide.
Matthew 7:24-25: Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The putting into practice is not optional to the formation. It is the formation. The house built on rock was built by someone who acted on what they heard — not merely by someone who heard and understood.
"Lord, let the knowledge You have given me be deployed in real engagement with real problems. Deliver me from the comfortable discussion that never becomes action. Let me build on rock. In Jesus' name, Amen."
