The most surprising finding in Calloway Park's Year Five data was not the MEELS composite. It was the qualitative response to one interview question: what did this school give you that you use every week? The most common answer was not a subject, not a qualification, and not a skill. It was 'the way of asking questions.' The school that had most consistently embedded the 'why' question had produced graduates who knew how to interrogate their own assumptions. That capacity — wisdom, not information — is the most durable educational outcome the MEELS can measure.
"Key verse: Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)"
Today, pray James 1:5 specifically over one domain of your life where you need wisdom rather than more information. Then act on what wisdom provides.
The information environment that students inhabit is unprecedented in its density, speed, and volume. The capacity to find information is no longer a competitive advantage. The capacity to evaluate it — to ask what it assumes, who produced it, what interests it serves, and whether it is true — is the educational formation that the information age most urgently needs. Wisdom is not a supplement to information. It is its precondition.
- Graduates who can access any information instantly but cannot evaluate its quality, provenance, or moral implications
- Professionals who are technically fluent and epistemically uncritical
- Communities whose information environments are producing confusion and manipulation rather than discernment and direction
James 1:5: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. The asking for wisdom is not a prayer for intelligence or information. It is a prayer for the capacity to evaluate — to see what is true, to discern what is right, and to act accordingly.
The world has prioritised information access over wisdom formation — producing graduates who know more and understand less.
God consistently prioritises wisdom over information — and provides it generously to those who ask.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14: Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment. The conclusion of the entire Wisdom literature: fear God. Wisdom begins and ends with the orientation of the self toward its Creator.
"Lord, I have access to more information than any generation before me and I need wisdom more than any of them did. Give generously, as You have promised. Let me evaluate what I receive rather than merely consume it. In Jesus' name, Amen."
